Chromebook Use Policy

The Grafton-Midview Public Library offers patrons the opportunity to borrow Chromebooks for use within the Library for educational and recreational purposes.

Eligibility

Patrons ages 12 and over with a current or temporary GMPL Library card may borrow the Chromebooks.

Loan Period and Limitations

One Chromebook may be borrowed per library card. Chromebooks are available to patrons on a first-come, first-served basis from the Information Desk on the second floor of the Library. The loan period is set at 90 minutes and Chromebooks log off automatically at the conclusion of the loan period. Chromebooks may be checked out for additional time if other patrons are not waiting. Borrowed Chromebooks must be returned to the Information Desk 15 minutes prior to the library closing for check in. Chromebooks cannot be left unattended during use and must remain on the second floor of the Library. Headphones will be provided with each Chromebook and must be used to minimize disruption to other patrons. Information Desk staff will be available to patrons to offer assistance with usage and handle questions or concerns about Chromebook configurations or settings. Chromebooks may be reserved in advance for programming purposes at the discretion of the library staff. The Patron Access to the Internet Policy applies to Internet use on the Library’s Chromebooks.

Liability

Staff will inspect each Chromebook and pair of headphones prior to and after patron use. Patrons are responsible for any changes in condition while in their care and for replacement costs for damage, loss or theft of a Chromebook or headphones (please refer to the replacement costs listed at the end of this document).
