A Visit to the Library

A social story uses pictures and simple language to explain what will happen at a particular place or in a particular situation. A social story about the Library, for example, might include information on how to check out materials, where materials are returned, what the building looks like, what kind of behavior is expected, and what activities take place. Social stories are extremely helpful for children with autism spectrum disorder, but really they can be used by any caregiver bringing a child to the Library for the first time.
