About the Friends
January 2014 marked the 30th anniversary of the Friends of the Grafton-Midview Public Library in action. From its inception, the Friends group, a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, has been made up entirely of volunteers who have taken up the role of advocates for our community’s library.
The Grafton-Midview Public Library serves a vast area within whose borders lives approximately 23,000 residents. For over 70 years the library has helped to enrich our community. Among its many valuable services is its commitment to early childhood literacy, closing the gap that exists in the digital divide by offering free computer stations with up-to-date software and computer classes for every skill level and judging by the growing attendance the library’s young adult and adult programming are a huge success. 2013 has seen a circulation increase of 11.75% and the issuing of 760 new library cards. Our public library has become the one place where people of all educational, economic, and religious backgrounds can meet to start conversations about their community. There is no better place to meet than the heart of the village!
While the use of the Grafton-Midview Public Library and the services it provides to our community keep growing from year to year, its resources do not. Whether it is promoting the library through word of mouth, writing letters to our state representatives, or fundraising the Friends of the Grafton-Midview Public Library are honored to assist in promoting this valuable asset to our community.
The Friends help to generate financial support through our membership dues, our biannual book sales, raffles, and our annual READ between the WINES fundraiser which has become a huge success.
Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at the library. We invite you to join us and add your support to our community.
