Hope & Healing With Hospice of the Western Reserve Thursdays, 5/18, 6/15, 7/20, 8/17, 10 AM Laurie Mason, Bereavement Coordinator for the Hospice of the Western Reserve, will facilitate a support group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Come and learn about helpful techniques to deal with your grief and find comfort in a supportive group setting. Registration required, with pre-screening questionnaire. ALWAYS Learning Reading Buddies Edition Tuesdays, 6/13, 7/18, 10 AM Elementary school-aged children and their families are invited to read a story, make a craft, and have a snack with our seniors. We're all reading together! Only families need to register. Tai Chi Easy with Coach Annamarie Saturdays, 6/24, 7/22, 1:30 PM Coach Annamarie will explore the gentle art of Tai Chi through movement, breathing, self massage, and meditation. ADULTS Fundamentals of Photography with Amy Mondays, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 6 PM Join experienced photographer and Library staff member Amy to learn the basics of photography, both indoors and outdoors! Amy will cover sports, wildlife, and portrait photography at the Library. The group will also make trips to the local Metro Parks, weather permitting. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes for outside trips and bring your digital camera or smartphone with a camera. Fundamentals of Photoshop with Amy Mondays, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14, 8/21, 8/28, 6 PM Join Library staff member Amy to learn the basics of editing photos in Adobe Photoshop including how to adjust lighting, remove blemishes, and make photos shine. LEARN TOGETHER WITH AMY As summer approaches, we are busy preparing for another fun and relaxing summer of programs and new reading materials for every age! We are taking a closer look outside our doors to the community in which our patrons live or work. We want to focus on local residents and organizations with the services they provide to us. Our theme, ALL TOGETHER NOW, focuses on kindness, friendship, and unity in the community. We hope to provide meaningful connections with local farmers, artists, our community college, the Metroparks system, Master Gardeners, and much more. After all, isn’t that what your public library does, make connections? We are bringing in a variety of classes to expand your horizon, learn a new hobby, and make new friends. One of our friends, Miss Sally from the Ohio State Extension office, is back with fun hands-on STEM programs, finishing at the end of July with a STEM challenge tournament! Chair Yoga with Crescent Moon Thursday, July 13, 11 AM, Saturday, August 12, 1:30 PM Join Jill Maiorca of Crescent Moon Yoga for a one-hour session of chair-supported yoga to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Jill will focus on movement and breathing practices, and participants will leave in a calm mood and with increased flexibility. GMPL reserves the right to take photos of participants enrolled in programs or those attending a GMPL event. These photos are to be used strictly by GMPL for the purpose of advertising in future brochures, fliers, our website and social media. We will also make an announcement at the beginning of a children's program when photos are being taken. Those not wishing their child photographed, please raise your hand. That way the photographer knows not to include you or your child. Thank you. Please note programs listed in blue on the calendar are for the whole family. Keep in mind the use of our outdoor lockers. They provide you with 24/7 service when you can’t make it during open hours. If you are heading out for a vacation, why not borrow a hotspot for an internet connection and some audiobooks for the ride. FRIENDS The Friends of Grafton-Midview Public Library is a non-profiit organization of area residents. The purpose of the Friends group is to promote interest in the Grafton-Midview Public Library and to improve and expand their services to all members of our community.
