If you stumble upon any interesting pictures of events, people, or places in our district while downsizing or cleaning up old boxes in the attic, we would love to digitize them for our collection. Sharing historical information is now easier than ever, thanks to our digitized collection of photos and news clippings. Just find the biblioboard logo at https://gmplibrary.org/localhistory Come October 1, you can partake in our Local Hero Memorial Tree. The idea is to bring in a photo of a military veteran and create a ornament using our supplies to hang on our tree from November 1 to January 6. The ornament is yours to keep after the take down date. Our goal is to display the tree inside our building so we can honor those who served our country to protect our freedom. Let's fill this tree! Lastly, are you creative enough to make a gingerbread creation to last 27 days? GMPL is joining other Lorain County libraries this holiday season with a county-wide art contest sponsored by Christmas Around the World CLE. Participants may enter an around-the-world themed gingerbread creation for display at our Library with visitors voting for the best one. One finalist from each Library goes on display at the Christmas Around the World festival at the Lake Erie Crushers Stadium from November 25 to January 4. One winner is announced on December 14 and awarded $250. An additional $250 is given to the winner's choice of charity.We know there are many patrons in our district who have the talent to win. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Users must provide their own materials for most equipment.
