Concerned citizen Harriet Spitzer thought there was a need for a free public library to serve the village of Grafton. Others agreed, and they set out to find a room in one of the local schools. Once the need became greater, the Library moved to a vacant building and former bank. I am sure you have heard the rumors of storytimes taking place in the old vault. Well, they are true! Eventually, the Library grew to its current size with an extension to the building and its name, Grafton-Midview Public Library. After our district expanded, so did the needs of the community and the services at GMPL. Here we are in 2019, a busy public library whose free services and resources are offered to all with respect and tolerance. Our newly designed interior offers a welcoming environment to research and learn, have fun, and engage with one another at a meeting place. Our staff brings professionalism and personal attention to make your visit a memorable one. As we honor the past 75 years, we want to ask you to join us in the celebration! We planned a party for all on October 13 from 1-4 PM at the Library. You can expect lots of fun, exhibits, food, and prizes. It is our diamond jubilee, so get engaged at your local Library this fall! - Adele Infante
